WorkWorkWorkWorkWorkWorkWork

Wow. I am a slacker when it comes to posting in here. We have been planning a lot and actually got a lot work done last weekend. The engine and transmission are out of the truck. The initial inspection of the transmission was promising. The gears looked clean and the internals looked to be in very good shape. The engine came out very easy. We were a little concerned to see the original set up for the engine mounts. We were glad that we decided to pull everything out and start fresh. I wouldn't have wanted to drive one block the way it was. The good thing was we only had to sacrifice one cross member that was chopped with what we guessed to be a hatchet. We are gonna put the love back into her. T.B. has the engine on a stand so he can tear her down and rebuild her. The valve train construction looks to be in fine condition. January Birthday is a little weird. Her mechanical parts are in good working order but the installation of those parts is far from excellent. She never seems to keep surprising us. With the engine and transmission out there isn't much to talk about unless we are gonna remove the body and it looks like we are take off the body. If we are going to do it now is the time. I have to say I would love to have the body off the truck to get the frame prepped and at least primed. I thought about powder coat for a second but cost and hassle later on has convinced me not to. T.B. has researched the crap out of possible ways to lift the body. We are confident with our backgrounds in moving weight we can pull it off. We plan on bracing the body like a tank to start. That whole process is a little way off we are going to schedule a planning day to figure the whole procedure out before we touch a wrench. For the engine removal we tried a new technique of recording our process. We set up a camera on a tripod and shot a time lapse of our progress. A friend of mine who is an expert in all thing video, Chris Andersen, put together some hilarious music to make the video as fun as the day was. We wanted it to have a more glamorous ending but the camera ran out of battery. Hope you enjoy. More work to come soon!
